Small mark under vein on hand... What's the deal?

I recently noticed a small, dark spot under my skin near a vein, like a vein broke or I got a bruise or something. It's been on my hand for probably a month, maybe more. There is no pain or swelling, that I notice... just the discoloration. Also, there seem to be a couple of tiny, thin red lines near the darker spot.

Should I be concerned? There are no other marks like this anywhere else on my body, and no other symptoms or anything out of the ordinary that I can tell.

Thanks for your feedback! I get paranoid pretty easily. :)

As you said, it could have been a small subcutaneous hemorrhage from a broken vein, more possibly a capillary. It could also be a developing hemangioma, or even what is called, a spider angioma, since you describe small tiny red lines. Nothing to be worried about. But keep watching it for changes, or increase in size. Then, you will have to see a doc. If you are worried about a melanoma, rest assured, since it does not sound like one. Remember, do NOT poke it, or keep on touching or irritating/stimulating it. All the best!
