Found pinkish/swollen lump under arpit?

About three weeks ago I found a spot under my armpit that was a little swollen and sore and was pink - the day after I was outside sweating, digging in the garden. It's in a very conspicuous spot (between shaving and applying AP), not noticable the day before. It has since shrunk down to half it's size,.. is not sore anymore,.. but is still pink, with a darker pinhead spot in the middle. The "lump" is squishy (kinda like a welt)and is right under the skin - not deep in the armpit itself. It's also located up very high on my armpit - on the edge of my pit and shoulder area.





Should I be concerned? I'm 36 - I just had my physical three months ago,.. and do my breast exams regularly... and this wasn't there before - Popped up within a day or two.

It could be a little glandular cyst. They happen frequently in armpits or axillary area. It's like a boil. I would recommend letting a physician take a peek at it. And, just FYI, there's some evidence accumulating that woman have a higher breast cancer rate when they shave AND use AP. Shaving's, ok. AP is ok. (alum free is safest) But, there's something about the combination of the two that is starting to be connected with increased breast cancer rate. Your sudden lump isn't cancer, though. Try using cooling, astringent witch hazel pads on the area. Ask your pharmacist for them.

It sounds like a clogged sweat gland, but if you're concerned or it doesn't go away quickly, please see your doctor.
Reply:Two questions: Could it be simple razor burn or an ingrown hair? I get something like you describe occasionally after shaving, especially in the summer. Also, how big is it?
Reply:sounds like an ingrown hair or perhaps a mildly infected node....keep a watch on it and se your doc if it flares up again
Reply:Sounds like a plugged sebacious gland. If it continues to bother you see a doctor and have it lanced but don't worry too much these glands occasionally become plugged especially this time of year.
Reply:Sounds like a blackhead or ingrown hair to me. They can hurt really badly in the armpit. I had one near the pit that caused the lymph node to swell.
Reply:That sounds more like a boil. I've had those, and I've had cancer, so that's my guess. Of course, you should have if checked out by your doctor to allay any fears you may have.
