Would a scrape cause the skin to feel hard like a bump several months later?

My 3 yr old daughter fell two months ago and scrape her chin. The scrape eventually formed a scab and appeared to heal. I just noticed the other day that her chin has a hard bump under the skin where the injury was located. The skin looks like it healed perfectly. Any explanation? Thanks...

There are a couple of possibilities. The first is she may have developed a keloid. This is a harmless lump caused by the body's scar reaction being a little over-exuberant scar reaction. There is also a small possibility that there was a foreign body and the skin has grown over it. If this is the case there will eventually be a tissue reaction which bring it to the surface and expel it. If you have any worries get your GP to cast an eye over it.

Scar tissue.
Reply:No but I think you should ask a doctor when she has her next checkup.
Reply:yeah it would,i fell from a bike, and scraped my knee so bad..ugh.. it was so bad, it was the size of a Gatorade bottle cap, then it turned into a keloid, and it will turn from the normal color of the keloid to the skin color for it gets the pigmentation..and would leave something to shield it..permanently...hehe,dats all i know ryt bowt now..脺
Reply:She may have some grit still stuck in there, or it may be an adhesion from where she has fallen and the muscle tissue underneath has been torn slightly.

Check with a GP next time you're there.
Reply:Probably a keloid.
