Harg lump/bump under...?

I have this small pea sike lump/bump on the back of my neck(it's under the skin). It doesn't hurt, just bothers me that it's there. I had my dr check it out and she said to just leave it alone. Has anyone else had something like this.

thanks for and advice/input.
Harg lump/bump under...?
It is probably a lymph node or a sebaceous cyst. Watch it closely. If it grows quickly (within a few weeks or months) and gets large get it checked out right away! Sebaceous cysts are common and usually will not cause any problems. It will simply be a little bump under the skin that you can play with when you're bored. If it is irritated or causes any kind of pain, make sure it gets checked out.

It may be a cyst. If it bothers you you can ask to have it removed. But it is hard to tell since we cannot see it.

Did you ask your doctor specifically what it was? If she can't answer you than you might want to seek out a second opinion.

My husband had a cyst on his back between the shoulder blades that became badly infected.

He had an epidermal cyst and needed antibiotics to stop the infection. He may still need to have it surgically removed. It was small, about the size of a walnut and had never bothered him until the infection. If this is what you have it may be better to have it removed rather than risk infection.

Epidermal cyst (sebaceous cyst)

Reply:It is called a cyst.

It comes in all sizes and forms a bump under the skin. If it grows, ask for a biopsy.
Reply:i had the same thing , got told the same as you. since then ive developed more lumps, chronic fatique, and hair loss , i got a new doctor now they think i have hodgkins lymphoma ;please get a 2nd oppinion,,, see i even have rib pain and bone pain as well. good luck
Reply:It is probably a lymph node. I have the same thing. They are called cervical lymph nodes. I have one under my jaw and one in the back of my neck. My son also has one in his neck as well. Both our CT were negative. They usually swell from a local infection. Cavity, dandruff, acne, common colds. And it is possible that they do not show up until after the symptoms subside and some times they don't go away. However if you notice that it is getting larger, %26gt;1 inch, you have fevers, night sweats get it checked again. they scared the crap out of me with my son thinking that he had non Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Reply:you should get a scan of some sort. dont worry about being to aggresive to your doctors because it is YOUR health not theirs. It could be Melanoma or skin cancer. You really should get it checked.
Reply:This is probably either a small lymph node ( everybody has them ) or possible a skin lesion. It is good that your doc said it was OK but it should not get bigger. If it does do back, or go to someone else. If it's going to bother you go to another physician anyway, docs are not God.
