Is underarm waxing effective for dark skin?

I have to wear a strapless bridesmaid dress next month and am thinking about waxing, since I have dark hair that is visible under the skin, even after shaving. But, I don't want to waste my money, if waxing won't fix the situation. Has anyone with dark skin had this problem and experienced positive results with waxing?

Waxing definitely works on dark skin and since it pulls from the root, it does take longer to grow back. Unfortunately, you have to let it grow out quite a bit first before you can get a good smooth wax.
