I just cut my leg shaving- i pulled the sliced skin off the razor and quickly reapplied- will it heal on?

So, i was shaving my legs and my razor should have been thrown out one use ago. I sliced a thin piece of skin, about 1cm by 1 inch off of my shin. As soon as it cut, I took the skin off the razor and reapplied it to my open cut. as it bled under the skin i cleaned the area, and dried it. My question now is, other than using antibiotic ointment, what can i do to keep the wound closed, and unscabbed? will the skin stay on and help the wound heal? thanks!

Start using an electric shaver if you are having problems with cutting yourself because of a razor. I'm not sure what kind of razor you are using. It sounds like you are using a straight razor. Get a Remington electric shaver for women. You can't cut yourself with one of those. Make sure you keep plenty of hydrogen peroxide and band-aids on that injury. It doesn't sound like you will need stitches, but you do need to keep that wound clean and protected.

The skin will probably not graft back. The scab is a good thing, it will heal faster.
Reply:the skin will not heal the wound u need to put a bandage over it but not to close leave some room for air it will heal more quickly and the only way u won`t have a big scar is for it to develope a scab over it so don`t worry too much
Reply:It has to scab to heal, a scab is the body's way of protecting the wound while new skin grows. Putting the 'old' skin over the wound doesn't matter........it's not attached and is going to get rubbed off in a matter of a few hours. Not to mention thats just kind of gross. It's not going to reattach itself, so I don't understand why you did it.
Reply:the skin will not reattach. Keep it clean, apply antibiotic ointment (preferably bacitracin as opposed to neosporin or triple antibiotic cream which MANY people have a sensitivity to). A scab will not help it heal, however the antibiotic ointment can b/c it keeps it moist without being wet so the cells can close a bit easier. Make sure to let warm soapy water wash over once a day.
Reply:In time, all wounds will heal...especially small cuts. However, not to be the bearer of bad news, but the skin you reapplied to your cut will not heal back on. However, your cut will heal over by scabbing (caused by clotting factors in your blood), and the tissue will eventually heal underneath it (new skin cells will fill in where you were cut). In the future when you get a cut, I would recommend using triple-antibiotic ointment (aka Neosporn) or Hydrogen Peroxide to clean the wound, then apply a bandage over it to keep it clean.
Reply:skin will not graft itself back on unless it is stitched on. You can try superglue though or nail flue that you use to put on fake nails. Make sure the skin is completely dry and clear of blood. Super glue will dry and eventually flake off so you will have to reapply a few times. If you try this, keep it covered as well to keep it dry for a week. other than stitches or glue, the cut off skin will not adhere itself back to the skin that's still alive.
